Diagnostic wax-up

Using a cast of the patient's teeth, our crown and bridge lab can produce a wax mock-up of their new smile. This gives them the chance to approve the results before you undertake any dental work - and helps you too, of course.

You can use the diagnostic wax-up as both a prep guide for the work, and as the basis for creating a comparatively cheap set of temporary crowns. This interim measure allows the patient to continue smiling with confidence while they await the full treatment - something they already know will deliver the look they want.

The process

A plaster model of the patient's current teeth is created.

This model is then adapted, creating a prep guide for the dental work necessary.

This is the wax-up itself, giving both dentist and patient the chance to see the final smile.

From this a temp guide or blowdown of the finished smile is created.

To enable a smooth transition during the dental work, a set of temporary teeth are created from the blowdown. This helps while the ceramist creates the finished, permanent smile.
